The Library

Yestermorrow Design Build School 2004 Intern

Collaboration with Jon Mingle

The Library at Yestermorrow was an interior finish project that required careful planning and construction. The rennovation involved enclosing part of the main studio to dedicate as a library. In the same wall, the spline wall faced the main studio while the curved shelves was interior of the library.

Spline wall finish was put up in 4" tongue and groove boards with stained glass accents. The position of accents seems "random" but it was carefully positioned to avoid overlapping with the books on other side of the wall, enabling light to filter in. The curved shelves on the other side of the wall was carefully measured and cut. The trim edges are long strip of scrap hardwood glued together in order to form into the curved shape. Both wall and the shelves were applied with linseed oil to give it a natural look.
